- I took early retirement from a career in higher education at the end of 2000. My background is somewhat weird: a doctorate in philosophy but a career primarily in information technology and higher education administration. Now enjoying life in the great White Mountains with my wife, Susan (also a techie) and our cat, Callie (AKA "The Muffin").
